Florence Savings Bank Is Giving Away $50,000

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As the Marks Meadow PGG Co-chair and a member of the SGC, I am encouraging MM parents who have Florence Saving Bank accounts and MM students who participate in the Florence Saving Bank “Savings Makes Cents” program, or have another FSB account, to place a vote for the Amherst Education Foundation in the Customer's Choice Community Grants contest.

In February FSB will choose several non-profit organizations to receive up to $5000. They are disbursing a total of $50,000. FSB chooses the organizations with the most votes to receive these funds, so the chances of AEF getting some of that money are good.

You can feel free to vote for any local non-profit organization that you have a relationship with, however the PGG is campaigning for the Amherst Education Foundation because they have, in the past, generously given to the Amherst Regional Public Schools. In November AEF gave a $40,000 check to ARPS that they raise though the “Make It Happen” campaign last Summer. (see Amherst Bulletin article http://www.amherstbulletin.com/story/id/51373/).

These are the specific grants AEF gave to directly benefited Mark’s Meadow programs:
2007:
  • Mark’s Meadow School Garden $1,000, Scott McGinley, Teacher
  • Mark’s Meadow Community Tile Project $1375, Diane Travis, Art Teacher
2006:
  • Outreach Program for Families, $1200, Alyssa Melnick, Parent, Mark’s Meadow
  • Mark’s Meadow Community Tile Project, $1050, Diane Travis Teacher Mark’s Meadow $1050
  • All-Town Chorus, $1000, Mary May, Teacher Mark’s Meadow
2005:
  • Activity Materials to Support Visitation to the Special Collections of Jones Library, $480, Terry S. Johnson, Teacher Mark's Meadow
  • Elementary Yoga Classes, $500, Terry S. Johnson, Teacher Mark's Meadow

Please vote, when you do, consider Amherst Education Foundation. One vote per customer and the votes are due before December 31st. Your Ballots can be dropped off at any FSB branch.

Sincerely, Tracy Hightower
